Lush Mask Of Magnaminty (Self Preserving) Face and Body Mask – Review

This mask is said to do everything “it can to fight eruptions and outbreaks to return your skin to tip top condition” I am very much obsessed with keeping my skin clear and will do whatever I can to prevent my skin from breaking out. This is a product I have used before but never fully reviewed. So I’m doing this review as if I am using the product for the first time. Discussing its best and worst parts, my overall rating for it, and recommendations for proper and effective use.

Initially after opening the pot, I was instantly overwhelmed with the scent of mint, a scent that I very much adore. Though I felt it to be a very strong scent, that won’t be the same for everybody, as obviously everyone’s sense of smell is different.

As always, I planned to leave the mask on for the longest length of time suggested, which is 10 minutes. I really dislike applying face masks with my hands, it’s genuinely just something I hate to do, so when applying a generous layer of the mask, I use my Body Shop Face Mask Brush. It’s easily my favourite way to apply face masks.

When applying the mask, I can definitely feel the ground Aduki Beans exfoliating my face. The mask is quite thick and I would probably like there to be some more of these beans added to the mask just to give more exfoliation all over. However I can imagine there will be a deeper exfoliation when removing the mask after the 10 minutes were up. What I really like about this mask is that it can be used on the face as well as the body. This is definitely a benefit as I have gotten spots on my shoulders on occasion, so knowing there is a product out there to help breakouts on the body is a massive relief, cause lets face it no one wants spots on their body.

Within seconds of having the mask on, my skin felt immensely cool because of the high amount of mint within the formula. This is most definitely a win for me, especially in the hot climate of Australia where my face can get easily red from the heat. I made sure to avoid the cheek areas of my face as trying to get the mask out of facial hair is a nightmare I’d rather not go though again, and I would definitely recommend if you have facial hair to avoid that area too, unless it’s a major troubled area for you, but for me thankfully it isn’t.

The mask is a very rich and creamy texture, which does feel super heavy on your face which to be honest I’m not overly fond of, but the mask is only on for a total of 10 minutes so its not a major issue, but still something I’m not fond of. The mint definitely causes a tingling sensation on your skin, and I feel as though as the time goes by, it gets tighter on my face making it a little plumper.

When removing the mask, it can become extremely milky and runny when water is applied, and removing just with hands while at the sink will cause mess. I would highly recommend using some sort of cleansing brush or face cloth to remove the mask with minimal mess. I used my Dermalogica Exfoliating Cleanser Brush and as well as helping to remove the mask, I felt it helped exfoliate the Aduki beans into the skin to cleanse the pores even more. Another way to remove it with ease is to remove it in the shower. I love to do this especially if I use a mask in the morning.

After drying my face once mask was removed, I could instantly tell my skin was softer; smoother; cleaner and even had a little glow to it. All of which are major pluses for me. This mask is definitely within my top five skin care products and I would rate it as a 9.5 out of 10, as I had virtually no issues with the mask.
